EOTD: Aqua Colored Cut Crease

I've been practicing the "cut crease" look and though I'm not as good as some other beauty bloggers I think that I'm getting the hang of it. Anyway, I completed the look and it turned out like this:

A bit dramatic and not what I'm used to be but it's fun to change
things up a bit sometimes.

I'm really happy because I'm getting my camera on point to capture
the true colors of the look.

Products Used:
ELF Eyeshadow Primer
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in "Milk"
ELF Beauty Book, Eye Brights Edition
(I used the bright aqua blue, purple and sparkly black in the palette)
120 palette
(I used the deep blue)
Hard Candy Take Me Out Liner in "Black"
Beauty Rush Mascara in "Violet"

Demi Lovato Inspired

I stumbled upon a video of Demi Lovato the other day and fell in love with her makeup!
This is the makeup that she wore to the ALMA Awards 2011. It's a bronzy gold smokey look.
I really liked how it looked on her but I went a little lighter since I'm not as bronzed as she is.

Review: Diamond Shine Illuminating Smoothing Gel

Diamond Shine Illuminating Smoothing Gel image

I love this product. I just recently purchased it over the summer and have used it throughout
the Fall season. I really really like it. I definitely recommend to anyone who has frizzy, or
wavy hair. You don't really need to put too much product on, only about a quarter size
amount and it's enough to make your hair smooth & straight for up to 2 days!

This is some info I got from the website:

why is it different?
The patented Illuminating Smoothing Gel increases manageability & smoothness, tames frizzy, unruly hair and amplifies shine. It provides a medium hold to keep smooth hair in its place. It ‘s great to use before blow-drying to achieve a super sleek look.
who is it for?
Make styling a breeze. Whether you’ve got curly hair or straight, keeping unruly or frizzy locks in line is no longer a problem with Diamond Shine Illuminating Smoothing Gel.
how to use it?
Apply to towel-dried hair. Style as desired.
Stylist Tip: Apply evenly to long hair, style with a big round brush for a smooth, sleek finish.

This products runs for about $7.79. The smell is shampoo like it kind of reminds me
of the Herbal Essence smell and the texture is thinnish it's not to runny or thick
were it becomes unmanageable. I definitely wouldn't try this product if you're looking for something to give your

hair volume, this is mostly just too keep it straight and frizz free.

Overall I'd give this a 4/5 stars.
I took one star off because it's only available online and at Sally's Beauty Supply.

Five Dollar Friday

New feature here on TPM, I am adding $5 dollar Friday for those of you on a budget.
It will either be an eye look, lip look, hair etc etc.

Here is the look I came up with for $5

w/flash
COLORS ARE DULLER THAN THEY APPEAR!

w/flash

I really wish I had a better camera because I feel like the colors are really faded out on my current
Kodak camera. Anyway you get the idea.

PRODUCTS USED

KLEAN KOLOR ALL ABOUT ME #14

Normally I don't use dollar store products, but I really like the colors on this one.
The pigmentation is pretty good for an eyeshadow and the color choice is really nice.
It has red eyeshadow which I haven't seen in drugstores or even dollar stores.
For this look I used:
The Red Eyeshadow
The Magenta Shadow below it
The white & black shadows
The hot pink shadow at the left bottom corner
Price: $2.50

PAIRED IT WITH
Elf Eyeliner

&

Elf Mascara

Winter Scents I ♥ from Bath and Body Works

Warm Vanilla Sugar® Body Lotion - Signature Collection - Bath & Body Works

Warm Vanilla Sugar
While most people either love or hate Bath & Body works fragrances, I must
say I really do like the smell of them. Warm Vanilla Sugar reminds me of the wintertime
and it's a grown up version on Vanilla Bean Noel. One of my favorites.

Slatkin & Co Leaves
I think Leaves is an all time favorite for many people. I adore this scent, it simply
reminds me of Fall and Winter which I love. It's very spicy and potent.

Twilight Woods
Twilight Woods has been a recent find and it always reminds me of Winter.
I don't think it's necessarily the notes in the lotion but more like the memories that
come with it.

Secret Wonderland
This smells so warm and amber like. A really deep scent that I enjoy
from time to time.

$5.00 dupe for the Naked and The Naked 2 Palette?!!

So I really have been wanting the Naked palettes by Urban Decay for a while now. I have heard they're very impressive and worth the $48 price tag but I found something that is easily comparable to the palettes!

When I say "DUPE" I use the term loosely because even though the colors are similar, it is very hard to find two eye shadows that are exactly alike in all three palettes but I found similar toned shadows. So if you're looking for something that has the same effect as the Naked palettes but with a smaller price tag than this could be your answer.

It is the ELF Beauty Book Neutral Eye Edition:

I really like this palette, the colors are extremely pigmented, creamy and blendible. The finish on the eyeshadows reminds me of the buttery texture from the Urban Decay palettes too.

Here are some swatches:
w/flash (colors are a lot brighter and pigmented but the flash kind of washed it out a bit)

HOW THEY COMPARE:

Here is the Naked One Palette

Here is the Naked 2 Palette

I labeled some of the ELF Shadows that are similar to the ones in the Naked Palettes
(Click to make larger)

PRICE COMPARISONS:

I got my palette for $3.00 at Big Lots but they normally sell online and at Target for $5.00.
This is a great buy for someone just starting out or who wants to have a good quality neutral palette.
I do not own the Naked palettes yet so I cannot physically compare swatches, but plenty of websites are doing comparisons and things like that so check those out for swatches. Tell me what you think!

First Review: Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation

This is my first review so let's just step right into it!

First off, Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse foundation is my favorite
foundation to use on the go. It doesn't require much blending, the coverage is great and it lasts for a couple of hours.

COVERAGE (1-10):
An 8 because although it covers well it is a mousse so don't expect
full coverage.

LASTING POWER:
It lasts for a couple of hours (maybe 3?) and then it becomes absorbed.

COMPACTNESS/SIZE:
It's quite small so it can even fit in your pocket (not that anyone would),
I carry it in a small makeup bag in my purse. The amounts are:
.64 oz. 18g.

FEEL/CONSITENCY/SMELL:
The feel is just look a mousse, it's very lightweight and it doesn't require much
blending as I said before. Although it looks quite dark in the package when you
apply it to the face it's much lighter. This foundation for me is more yellow toned,
so if you have yellow tones you might want to try this foundation out. The smell
is a really light, lotion-y type of smell. I don't mind it at all.

Final thoughts:
This foundation works for me, the only problem that I have with it is if you put it on
and have dry skin, it will go over the skin and emphasize the dry parts of it.
I have combo skin so I make sure to mosturize before I apply this foundation so I don't
end up with dry looking patches on my skin. Other than that I really like this foundation
and will continue to buy it. I bought it for $3.50 at Big Lots but they have it for around $7.00
at drugstores.

Welcome to The Pink Movement :)

I'm so excited to start my first blog! I have been waiting for a while to do this but have just gotten around to actually making one. I think right now is the perfect time to start a blog especially during the holiday season. I really wanted to create a blog that was different and exciting and here it is! I'm really looking foward to reading other blogs as well as chatting with visitors and sharing thoughts and opinions on makeup products. Feel free to post a comment and follow me around. I follow back! Thanks everyone. :)
